GOD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY AND TODAY!
Does God Still Heal?
Michael Christopher Stevenson
The Bible shows to us clear evidence that there is going to come a day when there will be great disease epidemics which will ravage the world. Doctors and hospitals are going to be greatly overwhelmed as they struggle to deal with sick and dying people. Those that have not at all learned to trust in God are going to have nowhere to turn. But, if you will study what God has said in His Word, then you can place your trust in Him and find that He will heal you!

AS the day of God performing miracles really passed? We read within the New Testament that when Jesus was on the earth, He had healed the sick. It seems that there are so many more people today who are sicker than then. Well, is the day of when miracles are performed done away with? What about this thing that we term “divine healing”?
In the ministry, we have come across those who have claimed that they know that God can heal today “if it be His will.” But, just how can we know whether it is His will or not?
Others will say that “God helps them who helps themselves first.” They believe that God works through medical science and that they should always rely upon the medical experts first, and take the medications which they are given. They even believe in submitting to the knife and then they pray that God will cause the human to heal them. But, what about God? Why don’t they trust in God to heal them?
Healing today—or only for Christ’s day?
There are many who have thought that Jesus is much like the professor-emeritus of some school of some type—that He only used His miracles in His earthly ministry to show to us that He is real. But, they believe that today, He has grown out of it and that He no longer performs any miracles of any type.
But yet, we read that “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, NKJV). Further, we read that “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8) and “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.” (John 14:12). Therefore, with these three passages, we would see clearly that Jesus Christ did rise from the dead and that He never changes, so therefore, if we will believe in Him, having the faith like He had, with Him being our example, then we can do those same works and even greater!
Yet, there are still those who firmly believe that Jesus only used healing to prove that He is the Messiah and therefore, healing is no longer valid for our day. But, what is the plain truth about healing? Is healing done away with? Is healing no longer valid for our day? If we will trust in the Scriptures, then we will find what God really says about divine healing and that healing is still very much applicable to our very day in which we live!
Just when did divine healing start?
Do you really even know the plain truth about when healing started from God, as a result of believing in prayer—do you really know when it started? Further, let me point out to you that I am not speaking about some modern mental science, so-called, or power of the mind over matter. I am speaking of real and absolute healing which is real and physical and is performed by the awesome power of the Almighty God as a result of really and absolutely trusting in Him! You just might be surprised that it didn’t begin at all with Jesus earthly ministry! It started much longer before that!
Healing began when the Church of God started! Many think that the Church had started after Jesus raised from the dead—on the Day of Pentecost. But, let me point out right now that that was only the New Testament Church that started—with the power and authority of the Holy Spirit leading the Church. But, what I am referring to is that the Church actually started much longer before Jesus was on earth—it started during Moses’ day! Yes, that was the Old Testament Church, but it was God’s Church, just as the New Testament is the Church of God and just like the Church today is very much still God’s own Church!
Understand! “This is He, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to Him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers; who received the lively oracles to give unto us.” (Acts 7:38)
Now then, physical healing through faith is something which God has placed within the Old Testament Church—during Moses’ own time! Yes, there we have divine healing back at that very time then!
Here is proof! This is the first account perhaps of healing by God. “And when they [the children of Israel] came to Marah, they could not drink of the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? And he cried unto the Eternal and the Eternal showed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them, and said, If thou wilt diligently hearken unto the voice of the Eternal thy God, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Eternal that healeth thee.” (Exodus 15:23-26) Yes, right there, Moses tells us that God is the One who heals us—therefore, God performed healing!
Do you know that the same conditions, “If you will obey and keep my commandments,” still apply to us today in our time and that’s one of the reasons why a lot of people who have little knowledge on true healing and believe in it are never healed? Yes, the truth is that we need to believe and that we need to have knowledge about true divine healing! That is why this booklet is so critical—so that you can know the plain truth about healing and that God still heals!
My father wrote to the Church that “If we will exercise real faith, if we will truly believe and will be determined to have the same type of faith which Jesus had, and which Peter had and others had, we will be able to perform those same miracles which was performed them!” (Pastor General Letter, June 1997, Michael W. Stevenson) Yes, if we will truly believe and will truly have that same faith, then we will see those same miracles and even greater in our day!
Think about this! With what is about to come upon the world, we need to understand that it is going to get worse and we will have a hard time getting the medical help we need, that even means we will have a hard time getting the medicines that we need or have been so accustomed to. Therefore, God’s own people are going to have to turn to God for healing from whatever it is which ails them! But, God’s people do not know the plain truth about healing! We will learn that plain truth within this booklet!
We got to learn what it will take for us to receive healing from God! John had written that “And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.” (1 John 3:22, NKJV) Yes, right here we see that through our obedience to God and His commandments, then we can receive whatever it is that we ask of God!
Well, with so many people believing that Jesus has done away with the commandments, then here is another reason why they are not being healed as they could be—it is because they are not keeping God’s commandments that they are not receiving those things which they could receive because they are not keeping God’s commandments.
God is the same yesterday, today and forever and He has not and He will not change ever! He is not going to change either on how He heals! Obedience and faith go together very nicely and we will see how they go together to bring about healing! After all, Jesus had said “According to your faith be it unto you” and if He meant that, then it is according to our faith that we can be healed!
God is the REAL physician!
It is true—we do have a need for a physician in our lives—but, the physician which we really need is the One who can give to us real healing! “I am the Lord [Eternal] that heals you.” God has told us that He is the ONLY One who heals us. He is a jealous God and rightly so! So then, if we will continue to look in the Scriptures, we will see the awesome truth about how we can be healed—and what we must do to be healed! Exodus 20 tells us of God giving the Ten Commandments- (those ten basic laws which govern our relationship with Him and with our fellow man). Moses had not given the Ten Commandments as so many want to believe! God is the One who gave those commandments, and He had said that “I am the Eternal thy God…Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Remember that God had also said that “I am the God that heals you,” and now He is telling us that we are to “have no other gods before me.”
A doctor cannot at all heal a person! Honest doctors will usually admit that they are powerless to heal! None of the medicines and drugs, surgeries or other treatments are able to heal. There is no healing in any of the medical sciences. There is only one healing and that healing will only come directly from the Eternal God! There is no other healing at all!
Other modes of healing are idolatry!
There is nothing else which is healing in the very strictest sense of the term. God has said that “I am the Eternal that heals you,” and He is not just going to sit around allow anyone else to heal people and to take the glory from it. He has said that “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” and that also means that we are to have no other healers before Him. One of the names of God is “Jahveh-rapha” (Exodus 15:26) which means “God Healer” and now then, if we look elsewhere, we read that “Thou shalt not bow down to their gods” (Exodus 24:25) and that means the Gentile false pagan gods. Further we read “nor serve them, nor do after their works…ye shall serve the Eternal your God, and He shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” That is just exactly what God has said He would do back in Moses’ time—that He would heal those who would obey Him and who would serve Him. If we will be faithful and we will serve God and do what He has commanded, then we will find healing.
For centuries, Israel’s means of healing was faith in God only and it is only Him who was their physician! There were no doctors, there were no physicians within Israel. That is, not until they began to turn to false gods and looking at heathen pagan nations.
Now then, God alone was also their King, but soon, they began to look at how the pagan nations around them were doing and they wanted to have a human as a king over them, so God allowed it. He therefore gave them Saul, then later David and his dynasty, and of course later, they further turned to the methods of pagan practices which included doctors and medicines! Therefore, we can see how Israel went off course and went pagan as well!
God calls medicine idolatry
Notice now King Asa of Judah as an example. He had turned to the king of Syria and had paid him money to become an ally of his. God has said that He would fight their battles for them and yet, here was this king wanting an ally. They didn’t need any allies. They never depended at all upon God and when any of the kings of Israel or Judah had relied upon God, they had won every time. This was very true for any of Israel whenever they look toward God.
But here, King Asa failed to depend upon God. He relied instead upon man. He had sent money and treasure to bribe the king of Assyria (modern day Germany). Now then, stop and think about this! Would God bless them for depending on man rather than depending upon Him? No! God would not bless them if they would depend upon other men rather than upon God!
Later, Asa had become diseased. “And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the Lord, but to the physicians. And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.” (2 Chronicles 16:12).
Now then, stop and think about it further! If you relied upon man rather than upon God, then would it make sense for God to bless you? No it would not! Therefore, what I am saying in this booklet is that we need to depend upon God rather than man and God is more than likely going to bless us!
Pagan origins behind medicine
The Gentile nations had many false gods. They had their gods of medicine as well as their gods of war, gods of weather, gods of many different things. They had medicine men or doctors as well. Their method was further to go to these same human doctors that had used their medicines and their drugs and then they would pray to the god of medicine, asking this false god to use the medicine to heal them.
Now then, where medical science is involved (falsely so-called) came from, is from those pagan heathen nations. You need to notice what God has said in His own Word about this. This is pretty clear! While many might get offended at this, the truth must be proclaimed and it means proclaiming the very plain truth that God has given! God has plainly told us that we are to “Cry aloud and spare not, and tell my people their sins,” and this means, that we are to also proclaim the very Word of God in faithfulness and in truthfulness and well, if it means offending, then so be it because the truth must be made known. This is why the Faithful Church of God is so dedicated to the preaching and announcing of the truth—so that the Word of God may be proclaimed in all its truthfulness!
There is yet another experience that we find. We find that “Ahaziah fell down through a lattice in his upper chamber that was in Samaria, and was sick” (2 Kings 1). SO then he had sent his messengers and had said to them “Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron whether I shall recover of this disease.” Further, this false god of Ekron was the patron deity of medicine—the medicine god of Ekron. This way they went to inquire of him was to go to the physicians of Ekron, who had supposed to have direct contact with and the blessing of this false god. “But the angel of the Eternal said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say unto them, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that you go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?”
Isn’t because you don’t have any God to heal you? Isn’t this why you have to run every time to medicial doctors in Ekron? God has further said that “I am the Lord that healeth thee. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
“Now therefore thus saith the Lord, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt surely die. And Elijah departed.” Now then, if you will further turn to the end of the chapter, we read “So he died according to the word of the Eternal which Elijah had spoken” (verse 17).
Today, people have a great misunderstanding
Today, people are greatly misunderstanding the very truth altogether. So many have begun to great believe that we should rely upon doctors, then pray to God to allow the medicines to heal us. They falsely assume that God had raised up medical science and that He has blessed it and that He is working through it. But, this is something is merely false and medicine is an old pagan and heathen practice of idolatry—though there are few who even understand this truth. Yes, all the nations have been deceived into keeping pagan idolatry and they believe that it is true Christianity! For the real Christian who has true faith in God, there is a better way that is much different than what people even realize!
Now then, there is one other example before I leave this that I would think we should look at, and this is about Hezekiah. In 2 Kings 20:1-7, we find that “In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the Eternal, saying, I beseech thee, O Eternal, remember now how I have walked before Thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in Thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.” This is a great example of someone who had put their whole faith and trust in God and had prayed to Him!
Here, Hezekiah is shown to having obeyed and trusted in God to heal Him. He didn’t trust in anything or anyone else; rather, he placed all of his trust in God. And he was earnest “And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the Eternal came to him, saying, Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the Eternal, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go u unto the house of the Lord. And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria [Germany]; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.” And so here, we see that God healed Hezekiah because Hezekiah was obedient and trusted in God rather than trusting in men and false pagan customs of medicine.
If God allows it
I can remember my father, in early 2009 was called to visit with a man who was very sick. This man who was in the hospital in Idaho asked for my father specifically. I went with my father.
When we arrived, this man said “Well, I know that God can heal me, but if it is His will I will be healed, but yet, I am not quite convinced that it is the will of God.”
My father looked at myself and then this man and said, “Well, you know something, it is too bad that you cannot have your sins forgiven, because God can forgive sins also, through the awesome power of the blood of Jesus, if it is His will. But of course, since we cannot know anything about His will, why then are you even going to be saved?”
This had caused me to stop and think of how God has His will and yet, many think that God will do—only if it be His will. God will do whatever we ask of Him—provided that we have the faith and trust in Him completely rather than turning toward man!
I believe that just like that, we have to remember that God has the will to do all that we will ask of Him in faith and believing. We cannot have God help us if we are not willing to have the faith and obedience to do whatever thing it is that we need to do to accomplish all things that will provide for us healing and even salvation.
After all, God will heal all of our illness as well as forgive us all of our sins (Psalm 103:2-3). Are we depending upon God to help us to accomplish what we need or are we looking rather toward mankind and depending on man to help us with what we think man can help us with?
God does not lie and He is faithful to see to it that we can be healed and even forgiven of our sins. He will allow us the opportunity—if we are faithful—to be healed and to be free of our iniquities, but it is all dependent upon us and upon whether or not we are believing and having the faith which we need to receive the healing!
Is healing also forgiveness of sin?
Sin is when we break God’s laws. Spiritual sin is the breaking of the spiritual laws and commandments, the law of love which is summed up within the Ten Commandments. There are two parts of that love, the first is the love to God and the second is our love for mankind. There are spiritual principles and there are real penalties which come about as a result of breaking these. The penalty is death; but it is the second death. It is appointed to all men to die once, whether we are Christian or not. After this, the judgment. But then there is the penalty of eternal death. It is the second death in the lake of fire. This is the penalty of our sins!
But, there are also physical laws which also regulate our physical health. If we break any of these laws, then we also have to face penalties for breaking these laws also. It might be an accident, or it might something which we didn’t do ourselves—we might not be guilty of any wrong, yet nature’s laws have been violated nonetheless, or we would not be ill at all. It isn’t natural for us to be sick. It’s actually unnatural and it is wrong for us to be sick.
So then, being ill is only the penalty of physical transgression, and whenever we are sick, then we are going to have to pay the penalty! That penalty is the transgressing of any of these physical laws which will regulate our own bodies such as pain, suffering, sometimes the first or physical death. It is a physical sin—and there is always a physical penalty which will be paid for the sin.
Healing then is nothing more than forgiveness of those physical sins—the removal of the penalty which has come about as a result of our breaking the physical laws. There is no doctor, no medicine, no drug or anything of medical science which can even have the power to forgive us that sin—whether it is spiritual or physical! Therefore, we must be able to remember that mankind will not ever help us when it is God whom we have to rely upon!
But, how does healing work?
The plain truth is that only God can forgive sin—there is no human that can ever forgive sin! This includes both physical and spiritual!
Therefore, mankind cannot heal a person either of their illnesses since their illnesses are a result of physical sin!
Onetime, Jesus had been preaching in a house. As soon as word was out that He was there, people began to flock all around it to the point that no more could even get in. There was a large crowd that was pushing around the door. Then four men came who had been carrying a bed with a man on it who was greatly ill with palsy. Finding themselves at all able to get him in to Jesus through the door, they went to the roof which was their only option. They then tore away some of the roof and let the man down through the hole they made to Jesus.
When Jesus saw the man, the faith which they had was manifested by this and Jesus said to the sick man “Man, thy sins are forgiven thee” (Luke 5:18-26; Matthew 9:2-8; Mark 2:3-12).
You will now notice next just how Jesus healed!
Jesus did not use medicine or medical sciences! Rather, He actually forgave this man of his physical sins which had caused him to be ill in the first place.
The scribes and the Pharisees had reasoned saying “Who is this which speaketh blasphemies?” (Yes, the modern medical experts of today think that Christians are equally blasphemous today when we trust in Jesus of the Bible for healing and they will do just about anything to stop it). “Who can forgive sins,” reasoned these Pharisees—and likewise, today, we have medical experts who also question like this, “but God alone?” Yes, who? No doctor can forgive sin—including those which brought about your illnesses! There are no medications, no surgeries! Nothing except for God can forgive you of those sins! Healing is forgiveness of those physical sins—those which brought on your illnesses to begin with!
“But when Jesus perceived [understood] their thoughts, He answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Whether it is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee, or to say, Rise up and walk? But that ye know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.”
Now then notice if you will that the Pharisees knew none could forgive sins, except only for God! So then, in order to prove to them that healing is also the very forgiveness of sins, therefore Jesus was actually using the very power of God to do healing, therefore Jesus had healed this man right in front of them.
He had told this man to “Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk”! (Mark 2:9). Why? Here is why: “That ye may know that the Son of man [Jesus] hath power on earth to forgive sins”! That is the very reason! Turn to it and see for yourselves! Healing is the very forgiveness of sins! Therefore, since God is the only One who can forgive sin, God alone is the only One who can heal the sick!
Yet, today most people are like these Pharisees, they don’t place their trust in God—they rather trust in man and believe that man can heal. This is placing our trust in the false and forgetting the truth and forgetting who it is that can really and truly heal and perform miracles. We often times are like those who doubted Jesus and His the power and authority by which He worked.
Jesus paid our penalty!
Now we come to the point where we must understand that all of us will reap the consequences for our sins—both the physical and spiritual. However, God “forgiveth all thine iniquities,” and He “healeth all thy diseases.”
Well then, just how does He do this? Sin remember, is the transgression or the breaking of law (1 John 3:4) and that is how the Bible defines sin! God’s law is that of “love” which is a spiritual law (Romans 7:14). The penalty of breaking the law is death (Romans 6:23). How then will God forgive our spiritual sins—removing that penalty of death from us? This comes as a result of God having His only begotten Son—Jesus Christ—who, while we had yet been sinners, died for us (John 3:16; Romans 5:8). In other words, Jesus has paid for us the penalty so that we didn’t have to. So then, since He had paid the penalty that we had brought upon ourselves, for us, in our place, God then legally is able to remove from us those very sins. We do not have to pay the penalty of our sins, because Jesus had therefore paid it for us!
So then, how does God forgive our physical sins? It is the very same way! Jesus also had paid the price for them also in our place! Is that in the Scriptures? It really is!
“[Jesus] healed all that were sick: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sickness.” (Matthew 8:16-17)
Right there—this is proof that we find that Jesus had healed all that had been sick because He had taken our physical illnesses and He bore our very sickness!
“By His stripes ye are healed” (1 Peter 2:24)!
Just before Jesus had been taken out so that He could be crucified, He had voluntarily submitted to being beaten with stripes. “Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified.” (Matthew 27:26). “Then Pilate…took Jesus, and scourged Him.” (John 19:1). Jesus had suffered this pain and torture so that He could pay the penalty for you and I, in our place! Therefore, He had paid the price for our pain, suffering, illness, or other penalty of our physical sins which we bring upon ourselves.
The plain truth here is that we have brought upon ourselves the consequences and yet, Jesus had taken upon Himself that price so that we didn’t have to.
But, why do we break bread?
Why, at Passover, do we gather and take the unleavened bread and the wine?
We know the wine is in representation of the blood of Jesus, which has been shed for the remission of the spiritual sins. But, what does that bread represent which we partake of? Why is it that we take this?
Let’s notice what Paul instructs us! “The Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: and when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broke for you: this do in remembrance of me.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-30). His body had been broken—it was beaten with lashes—and through His stripes, then we become healed! Through this, Jesus takes our infirmities and has borne our sickness upon Him.
Now complete the instructions which Paul has given in this passage. Let him make this meaning plain to us! “Whosoever shall eat this bread…unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord…For he that eatheth and drinketh unworthily, not discerning the Lord’s body.” This in other words means that if we take not understanding that Jesus’ body had been broken for our physical healing, then we should not be partaking! Now let’s continue: “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep”—those who have died! (vs. 29-30). Because they take the bread and do not understand why they do so and what it means for us—they are taking of the bread in an unworthy manner. They do not trust in Jesus for their physical healing! Many today are now suffering and also have died—the penalty for the physical sin.
When we take of that bread and we then put our trust in humans and in medicine, then we are taking of the bread unworthily. We rather need to be putting our trust in Jesus and His healing stripes instead of the false god of medicine! This is why so many are sick and why so many have died!
Do you see then why so many are undergoing their physical illnesses? God has told us that “I am the God that heals you—you shall have not other gods before me!” Yet, so many don’t trust in Jahveh-Rapha for their healing!
Does this mean that we have no need for doctors?
So then, we see that God is the Healer—the only real Healer—and that medical science has come out of paganism and the pagan worship of a false god. So then, does this mean that there is no need for medical doctors?
Yes, there is a need for doctors. But, if all the people would understand and would keep God’s Word, the function of doctors would actually be much more different today. Actually, there is no cure in any type of medicine! Most all of our illnesses today are a result of our poor diets and wrong eating habits. The proper function of the doctor should not be at all to go against God, but rather, should be to help you to observe the laws of nature by giving a proper diet, teaching you the proper way to live in accord to the laws of nature. In other words, it is to prevent sickness rather than to heal sickness. Unfortunately, most doctors have twisted their proper role and have not properly advised their patients in regards to proper nutrition and proper living. They studied medicine rather than food!
There are, however, some schools today which are teaching somewhat along these lines, who work more with the laws of nature, and not with medicines and drugs—the naturopaths, osteopaths, and chiropractors, so forth. These might and might not be good, largely according to the school from which they have come from and the ability of the man himself.
Another role for doctors includes child-bearing. This is a natural thing which is ordained by God. It would then seem right that we should have an obstetrical physician who can assist in time of child-bearing so that a woman can have a successful pregnancy.
Another need for a doctor might be in times of breaking an arm or perhaps when someone is injured in a car accident or is shot. You should then trust the doctor. He will not heal it, however—only God can do the healing, but yet, the doctor can help serve a function in this. But, we need to also remember that healing is, after all, not of the line or authority of a doctor—only God is able to heal! Only God can forgive both spiritual and physical sin!
Physicians took all of the woman’s money
Let’s look at another illustration from the New Testament about going to doctors. There had been this one woman who had a disease of the blood for twelve years (Matthew 9:20) and she had spent all of her own money in going to many doctors. “Neither could be healed of any” (Luke 8:43)—who had actually, instead of being healed, had suffered many things of many doctors, and she had spent all that she had and was still not any better, but rather, she got worse. So then, when she had heard of Jesus, she came in and got up close to Jesus and had touched His garment. For “she said, If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway…she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And. Jesus…looked round about to see her that had done this thing…And He said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague” (Mark 5:26-34).
None of these doctors were ever at all able to heal this woman who got worse. She suffered many things of these doctors! Yet, they charged her fees for what they could not do—they took all of what she had—all of her money! How many times we have seen this in our day!
Understand that only God can heal—and it is something that He gives to you—without any form of payment and without price—there is never any charge for healing! It’s as free as salvation! Therefore, we cannot as humans, rightly charge for something that only God can do!
Why is it that people then place their faith and their whole trust within man who have no power at all to heal them—sometimes spending all of their hard earned money on these men of “science” and to be growing worse with their health problems? God can and will heal you if you are sick! He promises that He will do just that! He is able and He will—He says He will! And it is completely free of charge!
So then, just why should people be placing their complete trust in man when they can turn to the Healer and ask Him to heal them instead of those medical doctors?
Is it His will to heal?
Now then, let us settle the question of “Is it God’s will to heal?” Let us put this question to rest finally and see the plain truth!
“Be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:17). How do you know then that it is the will of God? Is it His will to forgive you of your sins—to give to you life eternal? Well, how do you really know?
The Bible is the revelation of God’s will for us. It is His very Word—His promise to us! Now then, if He says that He will do something in His Word, then we can be assured that He will keep His promise and do what He has said that He will do! Therefore, we need to believe Him—otherwise we are making God a liar!
If you cannot at all believe God when He promises to do something such as healing you—especially when He has promised that He is the One who “healeth all thy diseases”—yet, all of them—then how can you trust Him when He has said that He will “Forgiveth all your iniquities”? If one of those very promises—those promises written in His Word—of Scripture can at all be broken, so can all the others which God has made!
