The Importance Of The Unity Of The Body Of Christ (Part 2)

The root casuse of Sectarianism Is spiritual immaturity

Good morning again brother and sisters in Christ. In part of this message, we heard about sectarianism also known as denominationalism divides the Body Of Christ, to the point that those who are supposed to be  Christians, are no longer identifying themselves with Him, but with whatever denominational church they belong to, by declaring themselves to be Catholics, Episcopalians, etc.

I also pointed to you, that doing so, is tantamount to joining to a political groups, that the people in the time of New Testament did, when we hear about Herodians, Caesareans, etc. Adn I said, that we are only supposed to be "partisans" of Christ, which is like I like to further point out, due to what Paul later called a "party spirit."  And I don't mean, the celebration kind of party or what we call search party, but the factional kind-the spirit causes Christians to divide themselves into sects or factions.

Now today, we will move on to part 2 of this message, which will deal with and address the root cause of this nonsense, and that spiritual immaturity.  And for that, we are going to skip all the way to chapter 3 of Paul's first letter to the Corinthians.  The reason for this, is because, he continues on in chapter 1 of which we all ought to be familiar with by now, as well as chapter 2.

So everyone please open your Bible  with me to 1 Corinthians 3:1-4, is which is a short passage. "And brothers, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual ones, but as to fleshly ones, as to babes in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, and not food (to eat), for you were not then able; but neither now are you able. For you are yet fleshly. For where there is jealousy, and strife, and divisions among you, ae you not fleshly, and walk according to man? For when one may say, 'Truly I am of Paul', and another I am of Apollos,' are you not fleshly/"

We will stop for now, for a much needed break and continue later at some point.
