Today's "Marriage" Scripture *June 28, 2010* Part 2 of 3 By Jason Hunt (Jun 28, 2010)
Prayer Request:
1 Timothy 5:8
But those who won't care for their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.
Paul pulls no punches regarding providing for those in our care. God promises to provide for us in Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? And trusts we will follow His example. But within that desire to provide for our families can also lie another motive. What motivates you to go to work?
Earning; Men MUST work, not necessarily get paid, but we all must oblige God's intent for men in Genesis 2:15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. Are you earning an honest living, a vocation that sets a good example for your wife and children? In your work are you asked to be dishonest, are you required to betray your faith? When you are not working how much time are you making for your family? Is there balance between your happiness at work and how well you are able to provide?
Father, thank You for being our Provider. Thank You for Your overwhelming generosity. Give us the patience to wait on You. May we set our sights on You Father, that the reason we work is motivated to honour You and bring You glory.
In Jesus' Name.
Amen
