Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *April 17-18, 2010*
Ephesians 4:2-3
Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
Often in marriage we go through some difficult times. Financial stress, mistrust, issues with extended family, death...the list goes on. Far too often the burden of strife becomes more than the grace of the couple. In order to survive all that life throws at us a man and a wife must make every effort to remain unified. Paul reminds us to be humble, gentle and patient. Looking past each others faults in the name of love. The present is not always the best time to deal with every issue Ecclesiastes 3:7 For everything there is a season, a time to tear and a time to mend. A time to be quiet and a time to speak. When the big issues of life come up, start spending more time in 'unity building activities'. Pray with one another and build strength in the times of peace. Find refuge in the arms of your beloved.
Lord You are worthy of all praise, honor and glory. Fill us with Your love Father, that we will be humble enough to seek peace during war. Give us the grace to see past each others faults and believe that love will conquer all. Lift us up that we will resist the enemy with unity.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.
