Song of Songs 2: 1-2
(Young Woman)
I am the spring crocus blooming on the Sharon Plain,
The lily of the valley.
(Young Man)
Like a lily among thistles
Is my darling among young women.
The rose of Sharon and lily of the valley were flowers commonly found in Israel. Perhaps the girl was saying, "I'm not so special; I'm just an ordinary flower", to which Solomon replied, "Oh no, you are extraordinary--a lily among thorns."
Solomon used the language of love. Nothing is more vital than encouraging and appreciating the person you love.
Be sure to tell your spouse, "I love you" everyday, and show that love by your actions.
God, we are so grateful for the love that You have shown to each of your children!
Help us to daily show and respond to the love of those around us.
May we treat our spouses with love, honor, and respect. May we show them how very much they mean to us and how blessed we are to have them as our partners. May we show love each day! May we speak love each day! Guide us to be better at showing and responding to the love we have to give and to receive. In Jesus' Name, Amen..
