Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *December 26, 2009*

2 Thessalonians 1:5
And God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering.

Sometimes men just feel like we are in the wilderness. Wandering around waiting for God to free us from the enemies snare.  I have felt like that for some time now, wondering when the Lord will free me from these 'troubles' which really are peanuts in context to what Paul is talking about. Now that I am approaching the end of the tunnel I can see that God has been showing me some things; some very valuable lessons in my walk with Him.
We all have a choice when we come up against a wall. Humanists describe it as 'fight or flight'. God calls it 'be still, and know that I am God'. Each decision will impact us and our families. There is a plan for us (Jeremiah. 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.) that we often don't understand and whatever part we can fathom usually doesn't take shape for us until we are past it. But in the mean time some principles apply that will serve us well:
 - We must be willing to stand still and wait for the lesson to be learned. If we remove ourselves from the situation we may be taking the opportunity away for God to grow us or He will need to get our attention with a stronger message.
 - Keep faith that God is faithful and just. His plan has our best interests at heart
 - Read your Bible! When the enemy is knocking on the door, we best know God's Word in order to repel Satan's attack. Jesus repelled the devil with Scripture Matthew 4:10 “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say,‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’”
 - Pray, pray and pray some more. Not praying is like getting in your car and driving without knowing your destination. You may be moving but have no idea where to and why.
 - In all situations there are valuable pieces the Lord uses to grow us:
Look for the lesson, what can we learn?
Look for the blessing, how is this blessing me and or those around me?
Look for the test that will one day be your testimony.
God has a desire that we will join Him in His kingdom. The trials, struggles, persecution and pain are all opportunities for God to show us His glory and grow our character preparing us for an eternity of worship.

God, we praise and thank You for Your word. Thank You for guiding and directing us in times of trouble, Your tender mercies protect us even from out own desires. You are faithful and just. Strengthen us with the Gospel and the presence of Your Holy Spirit. Praise the Lord for His infinite wisdom. In Jesus' Name.
Amen
