Today's Scripture *December 10 & 11, 2009*
Mark 11: 12-14
The next morning as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. He noticed a fig tree in full leaf a little way off, so he went over to see if he could find any figs. But there were only leaves because it was too early in the season for fruit. Then Jesus said to the tree, “May no one ever eat your fruit again!” And the disciples heard him say it.
The fig tree showed promise of fruit, but it produced none.
Jesus was showing His anger at religious life without substance by giving us this example of the fig tree. If you claim to have faith without putting it to work in your life, you are like the barren fig tree. Genuine faith has great potential: Ask God to help you bear fruit for His kingdom.
God, we want to bear fruit for Your Kingdom! Guide us and show us new ways to produce living faith in our lives. In Jesus' Name, Amen..
God bless!
