Today's Scripture *October 23, 2009*
Leviticus 24:14
“Take the blasphemer outside the camp, and tell all those who heard the curse to lay their hands on his head. Then let the entire community stone him to death.
This punishment for blasphemy (cursing God) seems extreme by modern standards.
But it shows how seriously God expects us to take our relationship with Him.
Often we use His Name in swearing, or we act as though He doesn't exist.
We should be careful how we speak and act, treating God with reverence.
Eventually God Himself will have the last word.
Exodus 20:7 “You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God. The Lord will not let you go unpunished if you misuse his name.
God, we revere and honor Your Name. May we never misuse it or take Your Name lightly.
We worship You, Heavenly Father, and want to bring Your Name glory and honor.
May our relationship with You be first in our thoughts, our speech, and our lives.
In the Matchless Name of Jesus, Amen..
Have a Son-filled weekend!
April
