Today's "Marriage" Scripture by Jason Hunt *June 27, 2009*
Galatians 1:10
Obviously, I'm not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ's servant.
For Paul to make such a statement he must have had quite the reputation. So much so that he knew it was OBVIOUS to others that he wasn't there to tickle ears. If he brought that message today would you be his friend? Do you have friends that you would scare away with Paul's message? That message is today's Bible as he preached what he'd heard from God. As a father, husband, protector, provider, teacher, disciplinarian, leader, watchmen, warrior, friend, and brother we should all have this reputation. Far too often we ignore those in our lives who lived like Paul, they make us uncomfortable. They challenge us. I pray you have a watchmen in your life who is living for God and not for you. If I had someone like that the first ten years of my marriage I would have saved my family a world of hurt. When I stopped being a 'nice guy' my wife started trusting that I was trusting God. The influence I had in my home, my work and environment changed drastically. God is still working on changing me from a 'nice guy' to a warrior in His service. Do your friends and family a favor, quit pleasing the world.
"Neutral men are the devil's allies" Edwin Hubbel Chapin
Lord, bless You for Your grace and mercy. May our words and actions be pleasing to You. Help us, Dear Lord, to stand for what You stand for, that our hearts would break for that which breaks Yours. I beg You; correct me if I am an ally of the devil.
In Jesus' Name.
Amen.
