Come To God By The Blood
Pastor Mark Stephens

The blood of Jesus Christ is precious because of its pacifying power.
Colossians 1:20 “And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.”
First, the blood of Christ pacifies the broken law-we’ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Through the blood of Jesus’ cross, God has made peace, reconciling all things to Himself. God did it! Secondly, the blood of Christ pacifies the guilty conscience.
One of the reasons so many Christians go around feeling guilty is because we have not magnified the blood of Jesus as we should. If believers only knew about the power of the precious blood of Jesus Christ, they would no longer have a guilty conscience.
Turn, if you will to Hebrews 10 and read verses 1-22. I’m going to put them here for your convenience. “For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect. For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.”
In other words, if the Old Covenant sacrifices had been totally effective, the people would not have had a guilty conscience-a consciousness of sin. Read on:
“But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God. Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. “
So Jesus’ blood is precious because of its pacifying power; it pacifies not only the broken law, but also a guilty conscience.
The blood of Jesus Christ is precious because of its reconciling power.
Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.” No you didn’t do it; He did it! It’s His blood!
The blood of Jesus Christ is precious because of its emboldening power.
Look back at the 19th verse of Hebrews 10: “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus….”
No, you don’t come by your own name, and you don’t come by your own righteousness. It does not matter how many good works or deeds you have done, or how much good conduct you have shown, you still have to come by the blood of Jesus.
Many people want to get healed because they’re good Christians. Yes, we should be good Christians, but you’re not going to get healed because you are a good or bad Christian. You’re going to get healed because you believe in Jesus and His blood! This is one of the most difficult concepts to get over to people.
Hebrews 10:19 says “Having therefore, brethren, BOLDNESS to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus” Why do I have the boldness? Because I’m someone special? Because I’m courageous? Of course not! You come boldly because of the blood of Jesus. You come washed in His blood. We come robed in His righteousness. Not ours, but His!
The next three verses go on to say, “By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the vail, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience.”
Do you recall what Isaiah said in 43:25? “I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgression for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” If He doesn’t remember them, why do you want to? Of course, as long as the devil can keep you thinking of past mistakes and failures, he has you at a disadvantage.
Thank God, what can wash away my sin? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!
What can make me whole again? NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!
There is power, power, wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb!
The blood of Jesus Christ is precious because of its overcoming power.
Look at Revelation 12:11 and get ready to shout.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”
“The word of their testimony” would be their right confession. We have preached a lot about faith confession and a lot of folk have made a lot of confessions. But I don’t think they know as much as they should about the blood of the Lamb. The Lord did not say, “They overcame by the word of their testimony” or “the word of their confession.” He said, “they overcame by the blood of the Lamb.”
This verse tells us that they overcame. There is overcoming power in the blood of Jesus: power to overcome the world; power to overcome the fear of death; power to overcome the devil; power to overcome all evil. Power in the blood…the blood…the precious blood!
Now can you see why it is so precious?
