Jeremiah 15:16
When I discovered Your words I devoured them. They are my joy and my hearts delight. For I bear Your name. O Lord God of Heavens Armies.
We have all heard that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I love food, love it! Probably too much. No...definitely too much. When I sit down for a meal I feel anxious to get started. My taste buds are roaring with anticipation. Savoring every bite and disappointed when I am done. Once I get my fill I am looking forward to my next meal.
When you read Gods Word do you soak them in? Do you chew over them? Do you savour every last bite? Do you need to feed on them 2, 3 times a day? Are they your joy and hearts delight?
Jeremiah examples to us how we need to approach our time with the Word for God by following Joshua 1:8 - Study this Book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
If we as husbands (men) hungered for God's Word like we do food, our comfort wouldn't be found in a big juicy steak but in the Bread of Life (John 6:48 Yes, I am the bread of life! ). How do you propose to instruct your children, love your wives or conduct business without the Lord's Book of Instruction? O Lord God of Heavens Armies, thanks and praise for Your Word. Put a hunger in our bellies Father for Your Instruction. Lead us to prosper and succeed in the strength of Your Truth. Be our joy and hearts delight.
In Jesus' Name.
Amen.
