Ashley's Today's Scripture *February 15, 2009*

Acts 16:25-31
Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening. Suddenly, there was a massive earthquake, and the prison was shaken to its foundations. All the doors immediately flew open, and the chains of every prisoner fell off! The jailer woke up to see the prison doors wide open. He assumed the prisoners had escaped, so he drew his sword to kill himself. But Paul shouted to him, “Stop! Don't kill yourself! We are all here!”
The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.  Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”

In this Scripture it talks about the power of God. Paul and Silas had many great journeys and had been put in prison many times for preaching the Gospel. Even though they went through trials they still praise God. In our everyday lives we all struggle with rejoicing in trails and still praising God. We need to be more like Paul and Silas. When they were in jail God broke the chains of the cells and opened the doors wide for them. The guard of the jail cell was so in awe and shocked that he wanted to kill himself. Paul and Silas saw this and talked to him about the Lord and His great and mighty power. Because of this the man and his household we saved.

In our everyday lives we need to make sure that we are shining the light of God no matter what the circumstances. It is better to go to heaven and God say thank you then to get there and God say why didn't you stand up for me.  Be strong in your faith and make sure that no matter what God comes first.

Dear Lord,

Thank You for this day and for giving us the Word. I pray that we will be able to always stand up for You and never back down. We Love You Lord and want to do great and mighty works for You. Give us courage and strength.

In Jesus' Name We Pray

Amen
