Ashley's Today's Scripture *December 21, 2008*
Isaiah 8:19-20
Someone may say to you, “Let’s ask the mediums and those who consult the spirits of the dead. With their whisperings and mutterings, they will tell us what to do.” But shouldn't people ask God for guidance? Should the living seek guidance from the dead?
Look to God’s instructions and teachings! People who contradict his word are completely in the dark.
In the society that we live in today there are a lot of people who think that mediums and physics are going to find things out for them and tell them about the future. In Calgary every year there is a Stampede, if you have never heard of it before there are rides and rodeo shows and cultural things. In one of the the centers where there is shopping there was a stand where there was hand reading. We walked past there and there was a huge line. I couldn't believe how many people wanted to get there future read to them. This just blew my mind.
Isaiah 8:19-20 clearly says that we shouldn't consult these people about our lives. Who made you ? Who has a plan and a future for your life? God does right ? Don't you think that maybe we should consult God if we are wondering about out future ? Shouldn't we ask God to tell us ?
Never in my life have I ever watched shows with mediums, never have I wanted too either. When I am wondering about my future I consult God. Let me tell you, He does answer. Whether it be through the Bible, or through people of God speaking.
Dear Lord,
I pray for all those people that are mediums and physics that You will help them God. Help them to see what they are doing and how wrong it is. God I pray that we will consult You if we have questions. Thank you Lord for being there for us.
