Today's "Marriage" Scripture *November 15,2008* by Jason Hunt (Nov 14, 2008)
Prayer Request:
Proverbs 5:19-22 She is a loving deer, a graceful doe.
Let her breasts satisfy you always. May you always be captivated by her love. Why be captivated, my son, by an immoral woman, Or fondle the breasts of a promiscuous woman? For the Lord sees clearly what a man does,
Examining every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins;
They are ropes that catch and hold him. Have you ever been captive? We all are in some sense.
I recently went on a trip without April. On the flight home my stomach was nervous with anticipation to see her. When the plane landed we sat on the tarmac for what was a few minutes but seemed like an eternity. I couldn't get out of my seat. The air conditioning was turned off, I was sweating and feeling very uncomfortable and anxious. I was captive. It was horrible. When we finally de-planed I rushed through customs hardly saying a word to any of the people I was traveling with. As I emerged from the restricted area there was April, she gave me a big hug. I didn't want her to let go...I was captive. It was wonderful.
God gives a man a wife so he will not fall to temptation, so he can navigate life with a 'suitable helper'.
Get lost in love, love her so much that your flesh only desires her. Become captive, throw away the key and stomp on the enemy's head. You will be able to avoid those sins that 'catch and hold you'. Wouldn't you rather be held by your spouse?
God, Your providence is Divine and perfect. You have chosen our wives, that one person made and designed by You for us. Lord, may we be captivated by her love always so as not to be tempted and to walk in the freedom that only You can provide. In Jesus' Holy Name. Amen.
