How To Become A Full-Time, Born-Again, Spirit-Filled, Baptized, Biblical Christian

The Bible gives us clear instructions on what to do:

ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS YOUR PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR

First, you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior. You turn your entire life over to Him, and you agree to follow Him as He leads you. You need to speak these things directly to Jesus with your lips, not just think them in your mind. At this point, you are a Christian, and you are "saved." (See John 3:16, Romans 10:9)

            "For God so loved the world, that he gave his
             only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth 
             in him should not perish, but have everlasting
             life."

      "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the
       Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that 
       God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt 
       be saved."

RECEIVE THE HOLY SPIRIT

Then, you ask Jesus to fill you completely with His Holy Spirit, saturating your entire being with Himself. He will do this, and when He does, you are "born again." Being "born again" means that you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, which has now taken over your life. Your old life is over; your new life is here. You will know it when this happens. (See John 20:22; John 3:7; 1 Peter 1:23)

       saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:"

      "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."

      "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of
       incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and
       abideth for ever."

This prayer will help you accomplish these critical two first steps.

       A VERY POWERFUL PRAYER, GIVING YOURSELF TO JESUS

If you want to do this now, here are the words you can use: Of course,
you must agree with these words and say them sincerely, from your heart.
Be consciously aware that you are seeking Him, trying and intending to 
speak directly to Him. Don't say these words to Him unless you mean them.

   "Lord Jesus, I give myself to You, for You to be my only Lord and
    Master. I renounce and repudiate all other loyalties, and
    I desire no other Lord but You. Please come into me and
    take control of my life. Mold me to Your will and to Your
    use. I ask that You drive out all other spirits which conflict
    with You in any way. I want to belong only to You, to be subject
    only to You. I make this prayer to You, in Your name, the name of
    Jesus. Amen."  


These words have been tested in real life, and they DO WORK!

If you truly mean these words sincerely, you will not need to
repeat them very many times before you will have a dramatic reaction!
The Lord Jesus WILL accept you, and He will enter into you and
take control of your life.

Get ready, for it will happen to you!

Once the Holy Spirit is within you, He will let you see your previous sins clearly, so you can repent of them. You will be ashamed of them, and glad to get rid of them. As you repent of them and turn away from them, He will forgive you of each one. At the same time, He will ask you to forgive everyone who has ever harmed you in any way. These two things always go together: He forgives you as you forgive others. (See Luke 13:5, Matthew 6:14-15)

       "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall
        all likewise perish."

       "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your
        heavenly Father will also forgive you:

        But if ye forgive not men their trespasses,
        neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Finally, you should to be baptized by immersion in water by a minister of God called for this purpose. This completes the process of becoming a Christian in the Biblical manner. (See Matthew 28:19)

      "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing
       them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and
       of the Holy Ghost:"

Now you are a Born-Again, Baptized, Biblical Christian.

In order to become "full-time" and "Spirit-filled," you need to do these two additional things:

This means just what it says: pray all the time. Keep up a continuous dialogue with your Lord Jesus Christ. You want Him to be with you all the time, in everything you do. So keep in touch with Him all the time. Be a "full-time" Christian!

         "Pray without ceasing."

            1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV)

The intensity of the Holy Spirit within you will rise and fall, depending on conditions: sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker. Strong is much better, so you need to ask the Lord Jesus to keep Himself strong in you. And try not to quench the Holy Spirit by thinking or acting in ways which tend to drive Him away from from you. (See Matthew 7:7, John 14:14, 1 Thessalonians 5:19)

        "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye
         shall find; knock, and it shall be opened. "

        "Quench not the Spirit."

Congratulations!

If you have successfully completed all the steps shown above, you are now a Full-Time, Born-Again, Spirit-Filled, Baptized, Biblical Christian

 

WHAT DIFFERENCES WILL YOU NOTICE?

First, your dominant emotion will immediately become love for all people. You will be at peace with God and the Universe. Nothing will bother you. You have Jesus: He has you. Everything else is secondary.

      "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding,
       shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Other people will notice differences, too. The Apostle Paul prepared a list of characteristics of the old life in the flesh vs. the new life in Jesus:

     Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, 
     impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife,
     jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 
     envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which 
     I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who 
     practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

     But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, 
     kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;
     against such things there is no law.
